    Excellent video ! one suggestion: twice as many passes on each grit, to better remove the scratches left by the previous grit. I use a 1x42 machine, with P120 (damaged edges), P220, P400, P1000, P2500 belts. (that's 125, 68, 35, 18.3, 8.4 microns) then coarse and fine compounds on leather. Good for kitchen knives, chisels, plane irons, gouges. Just watch the heat ... dip in water if edge gets too hot to touch.

    Hi Cliff I was going to order some 1/2cx12" Ceramic belts from the website but there was only a half a dozen or so grit sizes P80 to P240. I am just getting into personal knife sharpening and thought I would need maybe P80 up to maybe P1000 or P1200? Asking for your advice. Once I get into it and more comfortable I will upgrade to a 1" belt sharpening grinder. Thanks for any help Cliff.

    Are your Rincon grinders getting really hot? Just used the grizzley version of the same tool and after just 6 knives this thing is really hot, im betting its the variable speed recifier creating all the heat. I used it on the lowest setting so betting it generates a lot of waste heat on low. Using the belts i bought from you on it, they seem to work well.

    Curious if anyone bedides me sharpen things like mower blades and axes running the edge perpeindicular to the belt on the curve of belt sanders pulley. I can get a nice dressed edge doing this. Granted its not for a knife but i wonder if you could get a initial edge on a knife doing that.

    May i ask, what’s your take on the razor sharp edgmaking system, that uses 2 MDF wheels one covered with 180 grit silicon carbide used for making a bur after applying wax and the other wheel is just plain MDF used to polish after applying jewellery rouge on it I wanna buy it for home sharpening cuz in my area there is no places for professional sharpening I want your opinion on the effectiveness of it aside from its cost

    Great stuff and thank you for taking the time! Do you or anyone have advice for the trizact belts? Im finding that it takes around 10 passes each, alternating sides on an A30, to get all the 120 cubitron grit scratches out and clean up the apex. I'm running a Toolcker 1x30 at about 1500-1700rpm using light pressure (2-ish pounds) and about 2-3 seconds per pass on an 8in chef's. If i slow down, the blade starts to heat up more than i would like. I'm just puzzled how Cliff can get the 120 grit cleaned up in 2-3 passes on the A30. Thank you!

      Watch my video "Sharpening in Under 1 minute" I show the results under a microscope. You may be fixated a bit too much on removing all the scratches.

    • @jab0321
      @jab0321 Місяць тому

      @@CurryCustomCutlery I watched that one again (so impressive!) and you are right, I'm focused much more on getting all the previous grit scratches out. More practice. I guess a big part of it for me and my little business is how the edge looks to the customer as well as sharpness. With my Ken Onion, I always like to put a mirror finish (up to 5k grit, then 1 micron strop) on Japanese knives which it does extremely well. I can't do that as well with the 1x30 trizact belts. They don't seem to polish as well even using the A3 (4k grit). Thank you so much for the reply and for your videos, they are gold!

    Do you ever have issues with your angle guard causing scratches on the knives?

    • @CurryCustomCutlery
      @CurryCustomCutlery Місяць тому

      First thing I do is make sure to round off n soften all the edges and polish too. Then I apply the Teflon type tape and wipe it off often. Another tip is not to press so dang hard into the angle guide Lastly if its a flawless knife, expensive or mirrored surface I will run a strip of blue tape down the side for safety
